IF YOU CAN BELIEVE

MARK 9:23 JESUS SAID TO HIM, "IF YOU CAN BELIEVE, ALL THINGS [ARE] POSSIBLE TO HIM WHO BELIEVES."

Transformation, Redemption… it’s what Jesus does. He is the redeemer. Is anything too difficult for him? What unbelief are you carrying today? What impossible situation is a burden for you? Maybe an exchange is in order: your doubt for God’s ability to transform.

I was having a melt-down! You should have seen it! No, I am glad you didn't see it! There I was bent over the couch in my prayer room, balling and squalling! I had led my church into an upside situation. The majority of our income was bills and they had piled high! Feeling like the worst pastor that I knew, feeling really sorry for myself, I cried a river to God! I sobbed to the Lord, “Father, You know that if I had the money I would pay these bills myself. You know I would! I can’t do this and I can’t do that, I don’t have this and I don’t have that. This is too much! I can’t, I can’t, I can’t!” Suddenly, the Lord interrupted my unraveling with, “Can you believe?” I sniffled and said timidly, “Yes.” With that, I peeped over the top of the couch and there in the window sill, was a wooden carving that stated, “BELIEVE.” I said, “OK Lord, I believe.”

I was serving as a Law Enforcement Chaplain and the mother of our Chief of Police had passed away. I pulled myself together and ran to the service before our Wednesday evening service. As I walked through the sanctuary doors, my wife told me that she needed to tell me something after service, to which I replied, “Is it bad?” She said it was not. Boy was I relieved! I could hardly get through the teaching for thinking, “What could the news be?” As soon as I dismissed the people, I went quickly to Tammy. “So what is the news?” She told me that earlier that afternoon, someone had dropped off a check for $15,000! I nearly fell over! I began to chant, “I believe, I believe, I believe, I do, I do, I do believe!”

You know the Lord did not say, “If you will be a better pastor, or if you will witness more, fast more, pray more, etc., etc.” He asked, “Can You Believe?” My belief was weak at best, but He accepted my “Yes.” Friend, if you can simply believe Him, only trust Him, He will certainly hear your cry and show you great and mighty things you don’t even know of yet! (Jer. 33:3)

Every blessing!
