ETERNAL SECURITY

People that follow Jesus will never be lost! - Tom Anglin

John 10:27 "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. 28 "And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. 29 "My Father, who has given [them] to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch [them] out of My Father's hand.

The preceding verses show us Jesus’ view on eternal security! I have heard so much talk about this subject since I started paying attention to the debate in 1980. I have seen people get all bent out of shape about it. This passage struck me many years ago: Jesus tells us that His sheep hear His voice and they follow Him, AND He gives them eternal life. The word “follow” here defined from the Greek means, to be in the same way with, i.e. to accompany. Jesus tells us that those who are in the same way with Him, or those that accompany Him are granted eternal life! This is so very important! James tells us that faith without works is dead. Ja. 2:20

I read an account many years ago of a man that stretched a tight rope across the Niagara Falls and rode a unicycle across the falls. He asked the astounded crowd, “Who believes that I can ride across again, blindfolded?” Everyone cheered, “We believe!” He told them all to line up and one by one he would ride them across again on his shoulders. The crowed immediately withdrew their belief. One man spoke up and said, “I believe!” They both crossed over safely! What a picture of salvation faith. We put all of our trust in Christ and we go wherever He leads!

True salvation faith causes you and I to follow Jesus. That’s what it means to believe on Jesus and trust in Him! We need to examine our daily lives and be sure that we are following Jesus because He is the way and this Truth, His Truth, is eternal life! The text goes on to tell us of true eternal security: NO ONE CAN TAKE US FROM THE FATHER’S HAND! Friend, we cannot be more eternally secure than this! HALLELUJAH!!
