THE LOOK OF FAITH
Php 3:9 and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which [is] from the law, but that which [is] through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith;
Righteousness never comes by faith in self, but by faith in God. ~ Randy Alcorn
Some well-meaning or perhaps not-so-well-meaning folks have often said, “Believe in yourself! Have confidence in yourself!” Well, that and $1.25 will buy you a box of toothpicks at Dollar Tree. Paul, the great apostle said he put no confidence in his flesh. (Php. 3:3) Man at his absolute best is unable to produce an ounce of goodness/righteousness on his own. Jesus said, “Without Me, you can do nothing!” (Jn. 15:5)
Isa 64:6 But we are all like an unclean [thing], and all our righteousnesses [are] like filthy rags; We all fade as a leaf, And our iniquities, like the wind, Have taken us away.
That’s pretty hard to accept, but it is the word of God, so it is true. Filthy rags here would be like saying used Charmin! You get the picture. The sooner we learn and admit that we have no righteousness of our own, the sooner we can begin to draw from the well of Christ's righteousness, by faith in Him alone! He is The Vine. As we learn to abide in Him as a branch abides in the vine, we will produce the fruit of righteousness! It is all of Him and He graciously shares His righteousness with all who totally depend on Him! Look to Him! He will totally supply! HALLELUJAH!
Every blessing!
