FORGETTING GOD
“Dietrich Bonhoeffer made the observation that when lust takes control, “At this moment God…loses all reality… Satan does not fill us with hatred of God, but with forgetfulness of God.” What a world of wisdom there is in this statement! When we are in the grip of lust, the reality of God fades… This is what lust does! It has done it millions of times. God disappears to lust-glazed eyes.”
Jer 2:32 Can a virgin forget her ornaments, [Or] a bride her attire? Yet My people have forgotten Me days without number. NKJV
Scripture reveals that two thirds of love of the world, is lust! 1John 2:16 For all that [is] in the world--the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life--is not of the Father but is of the world. Get my thought? We see the number one cause that Eve and then Adam forgot God, was their attention was turned away from the command of God: not to eat from the the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, even with the promise of death, if they ate from it! Gen 3:6 So when the woman saw that the tree [was] good for food, (lust of the flesh) that it [was] pleasant to the eyes, (lust of the eyes) and a tree desirable to make [one] wise, (pride of life) she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate.
You and I are just the same. If we begin to take notice of some alluring, forbidden thing, we too will forget God! 1John 2:15 tells us if we love the world by obeying our lust, then we don't even have love for the Father in us! Wow! Lust overpowers love for the Father, always! What then is our hope of remembering and loving God with all of our hearts? Simply this: Romans 8:13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. We must walk in a measure of the Holy Spirit surpassing the powerful lust within our fleshly bodies! How do we do that? Here it is. God offers us the best gift we can have in this life: The Holy Spirit! Luke 11:13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall [your] heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask Him? Greater measures of The Holy Spirit are dispensed to God’s children who ASK! Dear one, keep asking for more of the Holy Spirit and you will grow more and more in love with the Lord and move farther and farther away from your fleshly lust! Hallelujah! How awesome is this amazing gift of the Holy Spirit, for the asking, who always helps us not to forget our great God!
Every blessing!
