PARTING IS SUCH SWEET SORROW
“If conversion to Christianity makes no improvement in a man’s outward actions – if he continues to be just as snobbish or spiteful or envious or ambitious as he was before – then I think we must suspect that his ‘conversion’ was largely imaginary.”
2Tim 2:19 Nevertheless the solid foundation of God stands, having this seal: "The Lord knows those who are His," and, "Let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity."
On the days that I fast, my flesh is so sorrowful. Yet, my spirit is always exhilarated with His refreshing presence! There are days that I am bombarded with one temptation after another. Some of them I easily blow off with a chuckle. While others would fall in the category of the “easily besetting ones.” You know, the ones that have gotten you numerous times in your past. “Easily besetting meaning skillfully surrounding us to prevent progress, the much admired kind.” Yeah, those! These are the much harder ones that we must tare ourselves away from. The tare is painful to the flesh, but sweet to our spirit!
Dear reader, I have found over the years that the sweetness of surrendering to Jesus far outweighs the brief sorrow of denying our flesh! More than that, if we will be His devoted disciples, we will depart from sin! If you are born-again, you have a deep desire in your heart to go the way of the Spirit. You will fight and you will fail sometimes. However, because you are born of God, you will overcome! God is for you and you are destined to win the war He has already won for you! HALLELUJAH!!
Every blessing!
