TAKE ME BY THE HAND
“Brokenness is the stripping of self-reliance and independence from God. The broken person has no confidence in his own righteousness or his own works, but he is cast in total dependence upon the grace of God working in and through him.”
Psalm 73:22 I [was] so foolish and ignorant; I was [like] a beast before You. 23 Nevertheless I [am] continually with You; You hold [me] by my right hand.
The Psalmist here, has recognized his animal like behavior as he admits he’s been living by his natural instincts! He also acknowledges that the goodness of God had superseded his foolishness and had not let go of his hand!
What a comfort! I am remembering when I was a little boy, my dear Daddy holding my hand crossing a busy intersection. I remember tugging to pull away from His grip, but was unsuccessful! I also remember that our eyes met. The look on his face did the talking for him. I remember feeling secure because he did not let me have my way, in order to protect my life.
Today, I submit to you that I am glad my Heavenly Father holds my hand. I also recognize how desperately I need Him to do so. I am comforted to know that He loves me enough to hold on to me even when I am foolish and try to go my own way! I keep telling Him to please break me from any attempt to go my own way, even when I tug hard on His hand to let me go! I am so thankful that His grip is not only firm on my right hand but also on my heart! So again today, I lift my hands to Him and thank Him, believing that He will continue to hold my hand and I totally depend on Him to lead me through this life and keep me on the path of righteousness for His name’s sake! O how He loves you and me! HALLELUJAH!
Every blessing!
