WHATEVER!
“The things that are happening to us now, are the harvest of thoughts and actions sown in the past. Today’s thoughts and actions are seeds being sown for a future harvest.”
Gal 6:9 And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.
In the context of Galatians 6:7-9, it is no mystery that Apostle Paul is speaking of sowing and reaping. Therefore, the “doing good” mentioned in the verse above is synonymous with sowing good seed. It is easy to see that Paul seeks to encourage the Galatian believers to continue to sow the seed of the Gospel, even though they do not see immediate results. Paul brings out in the 7th verse of this text, not to be deceived because they don’t see the immediate consequences of the sowing of good or even bad seed. (see Gal. 6:8)
Followers of Jesus can have the propensity to think, “I will put this in the offering plate and tomorrow I will have some sort of financial miracle!” The Jack and the beanstalk principle is not a Kingdom principle, it’s a fairytale! Eccl 11:1 Cast your bread upon the waters, For you will find it after many days. Your reaping will come after many days. I believe the main purpose of the harvest taking a long time is so that our faith may become strong and unwavering. It takes tenacity to believe when you don’t see rapid results.
The moral of this story is this: WHATEVER the kind of seed we sow, we are going to reap that kind of harvest. (Gal. 6:8 ) God’s people, like our Lord Jesus, are to be seed sowers of the Gospel of the Kingdom! It is expected that we too, will go out to sow that good seed! We must closely examine the seed that is in our hand and make sure we are sowing, is good seed. We must keep sowing that good seed while we are able and leave the results to the Lord. Whatever your hand finds to do, do it, ( or sow it ) with all of your might. Why? Because there is no work (or sowing) … in the grave, where you are going! (see Eccl. 9:10) Not to worry! Your harvest will surely come if you don’t quit! Be of good cheer! Jesus provides seed to the sower! (see 2Cor. 9:10) You’ll love the beautiful, forever garden that is the result of your labor for the Master!
Every blessing!
