Prov 28:1 The wicked flee when no one pursues, But the righteous are bold as a lion.

A man who is intimate with God will never be intimidated by men.
— Leonard Ravenhill

I received this little quote from Leonard Ravenhill when I was pastoring my first church in mid-Michigan. I had spoken with him by phone a couple of times and he sent me the quote inside a card he had written to me. I kept it on my desk for several years.

The quote convicted me. I thought about it in the light of 1Jn. 4:18. He who fears is not made perfect in love. I confessed that the word of God is truth, so therefore I began to ask the Lord to give me a perfect love for Him. To this very day, my heart cry is, "Lord, I want to love you with a perfect love!" I can't say that I don't ever fall short of it from time to time. Yet I can say, that my love for the Lord has grown more and more over the years. I can also say, that seeing the Lord through the eyes of faith, even the fiercest man, seems so small to me!

Ps. 27:1 A Psalm of David. The LORD is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid?

Obviously, David was fearless because he loved the Lord with all of his heart, soul, mind and strength. The Psalms reveal that his heart totally belonged to the Lord.
Ps. 3:6 I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people who have set themselves against me all around. David's perfected love had cast out all of his fears!

David was intimate with God! He was not intimidated by men. David said to the Lord, "with my whole heart I have sought you..." (Ps. 119:10) He gives us here, the secret of his fearlessness!

Ps. 25:14 The secret of the LORD [is] with those who fear Him, And He will show them His covenant. Knowing His secrets require an intimate relationship with Him! What a promise! He will reveal the riches and greatness of this new covenant in Jesus blood and by faith in that blood, we are made righteous and we can draw very near to Him and that nearness grants great boldness! HALLELUJAH!

We should always ask ourselves this question: Do I want to be intimate with God or intimidated by men?

Every blessing!
