This is the first of a seven part devotional series entitled: I AM HERE. The title is an acrostic. Today the letter “I” INTERVENING PRESENCE. In these incredibly tumultuous times in which we are living, it is good to remind ourselves of these timely and timeless words of our Lord Jesus, Matt 28:20 ..and lo, I am with you always, [even] to the end of the age. Amen.” It is my earnest and heartfelt prayer that this little series will comfort, strengthen and encourage every reader!

Psalm 40:1 I waited patiently for the LORD; And He inclined to me, And heard my cry. 2 He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, Out of the miry clay, And set my feet upon a rock, [And] established my steps. 3 He has put a new song in my mouth--Praise to our God; Many will see [it] and fear, and will trust in the LORD.

What a comfort that we serve a God with a very strong and very long arm that will reach us at our lowest place in life. He is a shepherd that leaves the 99 in search of us! He is not looking for us to find us and condemn us for our waywardness. No! His heart is to rescue us and restore us to His flock, where we belong! We, like sheep are constantly in search of what we believe are greener pastures, in our self-centeredness. Nose to the ground, nibbling our way out of His pasture because our minds are too often more concerned with our appetites, than His will. Again like sheep, we can get ourselves in a major mess, like the horrible pit that King David describes.

If you find yourself in some horrible pit as a result of your wandering, you will likely have to be patient for just a little while. We must learn something in the pit: to stop straying from our Shepherd! Cry out to Jesus and wait, cry out to Jesus and wait! He hears you! He is coming and He will lift you out of that nightmarish dungeon! He will reestablish you in your journey with Him. You’re going to sing and shout and praise His awesome name! When you consider His deliverance, you won’t be able to help it! People will not only hear your praises, they will see the transformation Jesus has brought about in your life! Some will even fear the Lord, trust and follow Him as a result of the testimony of His goodness to you! This is your hour to rise and return to the Shepherd and Bishop of your soul! He is going to make you lie down in the green pastures, beside the still waters where He will restore your soul! O, won’t you just let Him? HALLELUJAH!

Every blessing!
