KEEPING YOUR COOL
“Actress Carol Burnett got out of a cab one day and caught her coat in the door. The driver was unaware of her plight and slowly began to edge out into traffic. To keep from being pulled off her feet, the comedienne had to run alongside down the block. A passerby noted her predicament and quickly alerted the driver. He stopped, jumped out, and released Miss Burnett’s coat. “Are you all right?” he asked anxiously. “Yes,” she gasped, “but how much more do I owe you?”
2Kings 6:16 So he answered, "Do not fear, for those who [are] with us [are] more than those who [are] with them."
The prophet Elisha was between a rock and hard place. He and his young servant were completely surrounded by the Syrian army. They had come to seize the defenseless men. The young servant seeing how dire the situation was, spoke out of his panic, “Alas Master, what shall we do?” The scripture above was the cool, calm and collected Elisha’s response. (see 2Kings 6:8-23)
Child of God, there are many times the Devil petitions your Heavenly Father like he did with Job (Job 1:9-12) and with Peter (Luke 22:31-32). Satan’s objective is to be granted an opportunity to in some way, assault your faith. He loves to see any of God’s kids panic. Ah, but as the old hymn goes, “Never alone are the least of His children, have faith in God, have faith in God!”
Remember, greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world and that there are always more with you than all the hordes of hell that may surround you at times. Keep your cool! (like Carol Burnett) Hold tight to your faith in God! It’s all going to be OK. Hey! God’s idea is that our trials become triumphs and will make wonderful testimonies for His glory!
Every blessing!
