WHY DID THE CHRISTIAN CROSS THE ROAD?

We become neighbors when we are willing to cross the road for one another. (…) There is a lot of road crossing to do. We are all very busy in our own circles. We have our own people to go to and our own affairs to take care of. But if we could cross the road once in a while and pay attention to what is happening on the other side, we might indeed become neighbors.

Luke 10:33 "But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was. And when he saw him, he had compassion.

In Luke’s account (10:25-37) a lawyer had asked Jesus who was his neighbor. Then Jesus told him the story of the Good Samaritan. We read that the two ministers that preceded the Samaritan passed the wounded man by on the other side of the road. Perhaps they were too busy with ministry to care for one of their own. Perhaps they had more important things to do. Perhaps they had just had their robes dry cleaned. Perhaps they had just had a manicure and their nails weren't dry. Perhaps they had a million other excuses.

So many are willing and want to go to the other side of the World and the need is very great, no question. Yet, how many are willing to cross the road and be a neighbor to someone who is just as lost and without hope as people across the globe. May God help us to come to where people are and bring His compassion to them and bind up their wounds and point them to the One who loves them, longs to heal them, restore them, and deliver them by washing them in His own blood!

Every blessing!
