“The way you discover your gifts is really by serving not by searching.”
— Loren Cunningham, founder of YWAM

Acts 8:5 Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria and preached Christ to them. 6 And the multitudes with one accord heeded the things spoken by Philip, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did.

Phillip the Deacon turned Evangelist, saw a city in need. Formerly the Jews had no dealings with the Samaritans because they saw them as half-breed Jews. Jesus had shattered that stigma by passing through Samaria and ministering to a Samaritan woman and the others that came to hear him. Sadly, there are people that the Church, it seems, has no dealings with today, because of some unpleasantness about them! Phillip gives us a compelling example. Instead of searching for an ideal, non-controversial place to serve, he dives right into a place where the citizens were languishing without the knowledge, grace and mercy of Jesus Christ! His ministry was explosive there!

Christian friend, it is time for you and I roll up our sleeves and find some hurting and perhaps unpleasant people to give them Jesus full force! When we enter a situation to show and proclaim Christ, He will show up in power to transform lives. Truly Phillip discovered his gift by serving these people! Acts 8:8 says there was great joy in that city! There is a place for you and I to spread the Gospel and spread the joy! This is the place we discover what God has given us! Let the searching be over and let the serving begin!

Every blessing!
