STARVE YOUR DISTRACTIONS, FEED YOUR FOCUS
Luke 10:41 And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things:
I don’t know what these days that we are living in are like for you, but I know for me, there are a plethora of distractions. Often, I awake in the middle of the night and my mind is racing with things that I must do, people I must call back, email, text, instant message, visit, meetings to prepare for, I could go on… I find there is this deluge in another place, and that is the place and time of prayer. The flood of the “To Do” is even more intense. If there is anything satan will fight against, it is your undistracted time of sitting at Jesus’ feet! He knows that it is people that pray, that have changed the world.
Luke 10:42 But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.
When Jesus told Martha that she was careful and troubled, He was saying that she was mentally driven. Not a compliment. Sure houses must be kept and chores must be done, but sitting at the feet of Jesus is the one good thing, that is never forgotten by God and the one thing that God uses to make us more like Him. Oh, how this world needs more that are like Him!
Every blessing,
~Tom
