THE THIRST QUENCHER

John 4:13 Jesus answered and said to her, "Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again

The soul’s deepest thirst is for God Himself, who has made us so that we can never be satisfied without Him. ~ F.F. Bruce

There were years in my life when I never felt so lonely, so empty, so unsatisfied! I tried a little of everything I could think of. As my Mom once wrote in a poem, “You’ve tried drugs and drink until you can’t even think, you’ve lived it up no matter the cost!” At the time she wrote it, she didn’t know she was writing about me and my friends.

I could go into great detail, but I won’t. What I can tell you is that there was a time in my childhood, after I met Christ, when I was very happy and fulfilled. However, as grew older, I began to run with a different crowd and went far from God. The destination was a very dry and thirsty land where there was no water, no life, no joy, no peace, and no satisfaction whatsoever. It took some doing, but the Holy Spirit was at work to bring me back to Jesus, the only one who could give me everything my heart was crying out for! I was amazed that His arm was so long that He could reach down into that horrible pit and pull me up to Himself! Since 1980, I have never had the urge to look anywhere else! I am another one who testifies that Jesus is the only one, the only way to fill that God-shaped hole in the human heart! Oh, how He fills it, oh, how He satisfies!

Jesus said to all who thirst, “If any man thirsts, let him come to me and drink.” (John 7:37)

Every blessing!
