WHAT'S YOUR PLEASURE? TEMPORAL OR ETERNAL

What's Your PLEASURE? temporal or eternal.png

Psalm 16:11 You will show me the path of life; In Your presence [is] fullness of joy; At Your right hand [are] pleasures forevermore. NKJV

The strength of all sin, whether simple or scandalous, is the lie that God can’t do what it can.
— Sam Storms

Sin can deliver on pleasure, I can’t deny it. The Bible confirms this fact when speaking of Moses. Hebrews 11:25 choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin. The pleasure of sin is temporary at best. Sin keeps you going back over and over until you make the discovery that a moment in the presence of the Lord, is far better than a lifetime of sin’s pleasure. Tragically, multitudes live their momentary lives thinking that their sinful enjoyment is as a good as it gets. I never knew joy, peace or satisfaction until I turned away to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord! I did not stop drinking, I just change fountains. I did not stop dancing, I just changed partners!

Psalm 84:10 For a day in Your courts [is] better than a thousand. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of wickedness. NKJV

When I lived for temporary pleasure, I would drink myself happy, I would toke myself silly. When the high wore off, I always felt emptier than before! When I came to Jesus with all my heart, I would praise Him until I was overwhelmed by His presence. I would worship Him until the weightiness of His glory would make it hard and sometimes impossible to stand on my feet. This remains my practice 41 years later. It is not for the high, as good as it is. It is to bring Him pleasure because He is altogether lovely, altogether wonderful, He is altogether worthy to be glorified!

Proverbs 10:22 The blessing of the LORD makes [one] rich, And He adds no sorrow with it.

This pleasure, this blessing overrides life’s worst hardships and leaves your heart refreshed and longing for more of His presence! His awesome presence brings pleasure that last forevermore! Just taste and see!

Every blessing!
