WORRY IS WORTHLESS!
“Worry, like a rocking chair, will give you something to do, but it won’t get you anywhere.”
Matt 6:26 "Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? 27 "Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?
I remember a time in my life many years ago, that I was such worrier that if I couldn't readily find something to worry over, that in itself worried me. It was like a dark shadow that followed me wherever I went! The chief thing in play was a spirit of fear that felt quite at home with me!
One day the Lord interrupted my anxiety session with this stunning question, “Tom, why worry when you can pray?” I could not come up with a reply other than, “Yes Sir! I don’t know why I did not figure that out for myself.” I must have been too preoccupied with worrying!
Over the years, I have had a great revelation, “Worry is worthless, absolutely worthless!” Worry is a slap in the face of the faithfulness of God, who we claim to trust! The closer I draw to God, the easier it becomes to turn worry into prayer! Worry always tears down, prayer always builds up!
This past Sunday, I had an impression during our worship time. It was like a spirit of fear was looming over the congregation seeking to weigh down the worshipers with care and anxiety. Also, the Spirit of Faith was hovering over the body desiring to raise us up into the heavenly realm where all is always well. Consider that fear is a faith going in the wrong direction! God will never give us a spirit of fear! He has given us a spirit of power, love and a sound mind. (2Tim 1:7) The choice is yours and the choice should be easy! Which spirit will you put your faith in?
Every blessing!
