Fans of the American Wild West will find in a Deadwood, South Dakota, museum this inscription left by a beleaguered prospector: “I lost my gun. I lost my horse. I am out of food. The Indians are after me. But I’ve got all the gold I can carry!”
— Today in the Word

Mark 8:36 "For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?

Our persistent prospector kind of typifies the mindset of countless souls around the world. Mankind can see by those dying all around, that we will not live forever in this life. However, the gambling with our eternal souls goes on and on. Many have put all their chips into what might be gain in this very short life on earth! It is nothing but “Fool’s Gold!” Here today and gone tomorrow and so are we all, because there is certainly a tomorrow that we will not show up for in the not too distant future!

"He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain that which he cannot lose."

~Jim Elliot, martyr for christ

I will conclude with the words I heard my godly mother say to me so many times in my rebellious teenage years: “Just one life will soon be past, only what’s done in Christ will last!” Friend, a treasure beyond all computation awaits all of us that forsake this world and all it’s things! We will rejoice forever if we decided to forsake all that and follow Jesus! HALLELUJAH!

Every blessing!
