VISITATION OR HABITATION?

So often, well-meaning Christians pray for a visitation from God, but what He really wants is a habitation with us. He doesn’t want to come into our lives as a guest while we are on our best behavior around Him until He leaves.

John 1:32 And John bore witness, saying, "I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and He remained upon Him.

Several years ago, I lived where it was almost like a deer sanctuary. Having deer pass through our yard was nearly a daily occurrence. I fed them corn, which caused them to pass through even more frequently. They became so familiar with me, that sometimes I could get within twenty feet of them before they sprinted away. They wanted to trust me but they never fully did. There were often doves in our yard but I never had one land on me and hang around. In fact, at the very sight of me, they flew like bullets.

This Holy Ghost dove landed on and dwelt with Jesus! That’s a big deal! I believe this verse explains why: John 14:30 "I will no longer talk much with you, for the ruler of this world is coming, and he has nothing in Me. In other words, the devil could find absolutely no sin in Jesus, to even give him a place for a visit , much less a habitat. If we want the Holy Spirit to be a resident instead of an occasional visitor in our lives, we must purpose to keep sin at bay. We don't want to grieve the Holy Spirit. Our faith in Jesus and our following Him makes us attractive to the Holy Spirit. Our bodies are to be His habitat, not a guest house. So let’s do our best to make Him feel at home. Where He abides, miracles become the norm! HALLELUJAH!!

Every blessing!
