FRIENDSHIP WITH GOD

James 2:23 And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, "Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness." And he was called the friend of God.
Abraham believed God! Abraham walked with God in agreeing faith! (Amos 3:3) God called him His friend! How awesome! Walking with Him daily, is the very best way to really get to know Him. God deeply desires friendship with you and I! What a wonder that is! I have some really great friends but I have no friend like Jesus! He is a friend that loves you and me at all times. That is not what I think, that is Bible! (Prov. 17:17)
A good many years ago, in a time of prayer in my office, I heard the Lord whisper to my heart, “Tom, you are My friend!” The words hit my spirit with such force, that I bent over double and sobbed uncontrollably. It took me a few moments to regain enough composure to walk out of my office. Before I could get out of the building, He said it again, “Tom, you are My friend!” Again the deep weeping came. I finally managed to get to my car to go home for lunch. Upon returning to my office, the phone rang and my Secretary told me the call was for me. I picked up and received most terrible tongue lashing and threat from the person. I felt incredibly misjudged and misunderstood as I sat in unbelief of what was said to me. When I hung up the phone, I heard the Lord say to me, …”And I take up for My friends!” He absolutely vindicated me completely a few months later!
Dear reader, if God be your friend, then He will always have your back and be your defender! O, what a friend we have in Jesus!
